MOSS INC. – A BRIEF INTRODUCTION (Polished English Version)
Pg.1 – Company Overview
MOSS INC. – A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Based in Camden, Maine, Moss Inc. was founded in 1975 and incorporated in 1977.
The company was originally established to design and manufacture lightweight backpacking tents.
Since its founding, Moss has produced tents for many prestigious and demanding clients, including Jacques Cousteau, the Easter Island expedition, Himalayan mountaineers, and the Saudi Arabian royal family.
What began as a small mail-order business has grown into a successful design and manufacturing company with a diverse product line and a worldwide clientele.
When the company was founded, it employed only five people; today, it employs forty.
In 1977, Moss had a weekly production capacity of ten tents. Today, the company produces 225 tents per week, and last year manufactured more than 6,000 backpacking tents.
No longer exclusively a tent manufacturer, Moss has applied its advanced tension-fabric technology to a wide variety of design and production fields.
Pg.2 – Expansion into Trade Show Exhibits
In recent years, Moss has entered the trade show exhibit industry.
These unique exhibits—characterized by sculpted curves and dome-like shapes—are lightweight, easily folded into compact, portable sizes, and provide a visually striking and cost-effective alternative to conventional trade show booths.
The exhibit units pack into box-size containers that can be checked as airplane luggage, and they are easy to assemble. Typically, two people can set up a Moss exhibit in less than an hour with minimal labor and tools.
Moss trade show clients include DuPont, Honeywell, Mattel Toys, the John Deere Company, and Gore-Tex.
Moss exhibits have appeared at numerous shows, and a Moss “Meynet Tent” event structure was used as an outdoor theater for summer performances at the Hammond Castle Museum in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Because the Meynet tent is modular, it can be expanded to accommodate larger crowds.
Pg.3 – Recognition, Awards, and Quality Philosophy
In addition to their practical applications, Moss products have been recognized for their aesthetic quality.
Moss designs have been displayed as works of art at the Louvre in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Smithsonian Institution.
In 1990, Moss was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Design Achievement Award in Washington, D.C.
Moss has also received multiple awards from the IFAI (International Fabric Association International), including first-place honors for commercial and fair tents, new-product design, miscellaneous designs, and passive solar products.
Moss prides itself on its reputation for top-quality products and dependable after-sales support.
This is evident in the individual attention they give their clients and the high standards they establish and maintain for all products.
