About MOSS TENTS
Founded by Bill Moss, a painter and sculptor, MOSS TENTS rose to prominence in the outdoor industry in 1955 with the introduction of the world's first dome tent, the "POP-TENT." However, it closed its doors in 2001. Then, in 2020, Moss Japan Co., Ltd. was established to inherit the spirit of the Moss Tent brand, reviving the MOSS TENTS legacy. In November 2021, it launched in Japan at The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko. To this day, MOSS TENTS continues to captivate campers worldwide as an enduring legend. Nestled on the shores of the picturesque Lake Chuzenji and overlooking Mount Nantai, revered as a sacred mountain of mountain worship, this is Tochigi Prefecture's first luxury hotel, located within Nikko National Park. Harmonizing with the untouched nature of Okunikko, the 94 spacious guest rooms, including 10 suites, offer panoramic views of the changing seasons. Enjoy Western and Japanese restaurants featuring unique ingredients from Tochigi Prefecture, a bar with a selection of whiskeys from across Japan, a spa and fitness studio to soothe the senses, and an onsen (hot spring) facility drawing from the original source of Yunoyu Onsen, long cherished by the local community. This onsen initiative is a first for The Ritz-Carlton brand, offering guests an experience deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Nikko is a popular destination known for its UNESCO World Heritage site, "Nikko's Sacred Temples and Shrines," abundant nature, traditional culture, and rich history.
